October 2017 will be full 60 years since Vietnam officially joined the program "International Geophysical Year 1957-1958" with the establishment of Vietnam National Committee of International Geophysical Year. In 1957, with the help of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Geophysical Observatory in Sapa has built and put into operation, it is the mark for the beginning and development of Vietnam Geophysics. Year 2017 also marks the 30th Anniversary of Geophysics Institute, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, a leading scientific research institute and the State's only institute on geophysical field in Vietnam. To celebrate Anniversaries, Institute of Geophysics will organize International Conference on 60-year (1957-2017) Research Development and Cooperation on Geophysics in Hanoi, Vietnam during the October 18th - 22nd, 2017.
The main purpose of the Conference is to exchange scientific and technical information, and to evaluate the results of research development and potential of Vietnam Geophysics. The discussion will focus on issues related to cooperation and integration of geophysics to improve the effectiveness of the applications of mineral exploration, natural disaster prevention and reduction, and climate change adaption. The topics of scientific program of the Conference cover the fields of Seismology and Earth's internal structure, Geomagnetism and Ionosphere, Atmospheric Sciences, Geodynamics, Applied Geophysics and related fields.
In addition to the scientific program of the conference, participants also have the opportunity to participate in the field trips related to geophysical activities in northern Vietnam area. The Organizing Committee is pleased to inform and welcome Vietnamese and international scientists to submit scientific papers and attend the conference.
